“Stranger” was written during a season of my life when I moved towns quite a bit. I lived in Alabama, Tennessee, and two different towns in Florida all within two years. Each move was instigated by work or changes in my personal life. I enjoyed the fast pace of meeting new people and learning new towns. However, I found that people not knowing who I was became lonely at times. I especially clung to the holidays and opportunities to go back home where I would be around family and friends really knew me.

This song has continued to be meaningful to me as I moved to Kentucky just six months after writing it. Since releasing, this song has especially resonated with friends and family who have moved to new places and entered new seasons of life. It is a dream come true for songs to connect with people in a way that gives words to our unique experiences while showing that we are never really alone.
